DuPage County

Real estate in Wheaton, IL.

The DuPage County seat, with a compact downtown, two UP-West Metra stops and a large stock of established single-family housing.
A red-brick colonial with dormer windows, black shutters and a clipped shrub border along the front.

Wheaton

Wheaton carries the county government and a college, which gives it a steadier daytime population than a purely residential suburb. The downtown is small but real, and the UP-West line runs straight through it.

Housing ranges from century-old houses near the center to post-war ranches and later colonials further out, so the same budget buys very different things depending on where in town you look.

What the housing looks like

  • Period houses and foursquares near the center
  • Post-war ranches and split-levels
  • Subdivision colonials on the outer edges
