Cook County

Real estate in Brookfield, IL.

A modest near-west suburb best known for Brookfield Zoo, with two BNSF stops and a mix of pre-war and post-war housing.
A quiet suburban street under mature trees, with a low house set back behind the curb.

Brookfield

Brookfield is quieter and less expensive than the villages on either side of it, which is most of its appeal. The housing is smaller on average, the lots are reasonable, and two Metra stops put the Loop within an easy ride.

It is a practical first-house market for buyers priced out of La Grange or Riverside who still want the same train.

What the housing looks like

  • Bungalows, Cape Cods and small frame houses
  • Post-war ranches on quiet residential blocks
  • Two-flats and small multi-unit buildings
