Cook County

Real estate in Mount Greenwood, Chicago.

A quiet, low-rise neighborhood at the far southwest corner of the city, on the Cook County line.
A single-story post-war ranch house with a picture window and a large shade tree in the front yard.

Mount Greenwood

Mount Greenwood is as far from downtown as you can get and still be in Chicago, and it feels like it — ranches and raised ranches, driveways, detached garages and a very low turnover rate.

Because so little trades, pricing has to be read block by block rather than from a neighborhood average. Buyers here are usually looking for space and a garage at a city address.

What the housing looks like

  • Brick ranches and raised ranches with garages
  • Georgians and Cape Cods on standard lots
  • A small amount of newer infill
