Cook County

Real estate in Garfield Ridge, Chicago.

A low-density Southwest Side neighborhood of bungalows and ranches, wrapped around Midway Airport.
A single-story post-war ranch house with a picture window and a large shade tree in the front yard.

Garfield Ridge

Garfield Ridge feels more suburban than most of the city. Lots are wider, garages are common, and a good share of the housing went up after the war rather than before it.

Midway is right there, which is a genuine convenience and also something to listen for before you commit to a particular block. Buyers who want city taxes and a driveway tend to end up here.

What the housing looks like

  • Post-war ranches on wide lots with garages
  • Brick bungalows and Georgians
  • Split-levels from the 1960s and 1970s
